What is the Careers Committee?
The Careers Committee (CC) represents the professional interests of LSS members. It is an elected body of twenty representatives, with the main objectives of assisting law students in their career planning and providing links between the student body and the legal community.
The CC works in conjunction with the Career Services Office to help students secure summer and articling positions for traditional legal careers or to plan for non-traditional legal careers. The CC also works with the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) to match UBC law students with mentors in the legal community.
The CC members are responsible for planning and organizing events such as the wine & cheese receptions, CBA mentorship reception, peer advice sessions, panel presentations, and putting together the UBC Law Articling Handbook.
Elections for the CC are held at the same time as those for the LSS. All students can volunteer to assist the CC, and are particularly welcome during the busy wine & cheese season.
