Sara Hopkins is a former National Sprint Kayaking Team athlete, and prior to studying law at UBC was a high school teacher and kayak coach.  She completed an English Honours degree at UVic, an Education degree at SFU and completed her graduate work at Saint Mary’s University. In her first two years at UBC Sara volunteered with the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program, the Legal Exposure Outreach group, and was involved with the Law Students’ Society (LSS) as both a First-year Representative and Ombudsperson. Sara was the 2010-2011 Student Coordinator for Pro Bono Students Canada, participated in a Public Interest Fellowship in Belize and working on several faculty projects, including the Strategic Planning Committee. This summer, Sara is working with the Penticton & Area Women’s Centre as part of the UBC Law Public Interest Placement program. Sara is also proud to be representing UBC Law students as the LSS Vice-President, Academic Issues for 2011-12.
